This olive utility shirt pays homage to the helicopter attack squadrons of the Vietnam war, featuring a HA(L)-3 unit embroidered shoulder patch and identification nametapes.
The Seawolves, aka HAL-(3), used an insignia that adopted the three pronged spear, leaning on ancient symbolism and its use for spear fishing. It featured the Ace of Spades, representing Death as well as adding the red and yellow colours of the flag of South Vietnam. The ‘wolf’ on the original unit patch was inspired by the lion from the German Lowenbrau beer logo, which itself was inspired by a C17th fresco depicting Daniel, in the lion’s den.
